Burger Planet Positioning Paper
We at Burger Planet, the world's largest fast-food restaurant chain, have a desire to please our customers by bringing in fitness guru Jayne Peterson, providing healthier menu choices and retaining our great-tasting burgers and fries.
We have recently hired Jayne Peterson, Opal Whitcomb's personal trainer, in order to promote healthy items on the menu. This move was made in order to give Burger Planet a competitive edge in the ever-growing health trend. Peterson has shown customers how to enjoy their favorite foods at Burger Planet while maintaining a healthy lifestyle. She has helped many people get healthy and stay fit while enjoying their favorite foods.
Customers have decided that they want to eat healthier, so Peterson recommends healthier side options to suplement the great tasting burgers and fries that customers have come to know and love at Burger Planet.
According to outgoing Agriculture Secretary Ann Veneman, "The popularity of diet books and products which represent about $42 billion in annual spending in the United States, shows that Americans are interested in leading healthier lives." Forbes: January 2005
Burger Planet wants to help customers make this possible by offering healthier side choices such as grapes, apple slices, bananas and other healthy sides. Burger Planet has also added great gourmet salads to their menu, including the spinach salad with Raspberry vinaigrette and Caesar salad that can help anyone wanting to stay in shape. The option to have menu items wrapped in lettuce instead of a bun is available for carbohydrate conscious customers and white chicken breast options are also available. The Mercury Burger is available as well at half size for customers wanting to cut portion sizes.
Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson said, "Two-thirds of Americans are overweight or obese, and more than 50 percent of Americans do not get the recommended amount of physical activity, so the 2005 guidelines emphasize physical activity and calorie control more than ever before."
Peterson will be a great asset in promoting physical activity as well as healthy eating habits. Burger Planet believes that to be healthy you don’t need to give up everything you enjoy eating. Modifications to your diet and exercise programs are the key to living a healthy life style.
Burger Planet was founded in 1934 to serve their customers needs and they continue to have the customer's interest at heart today. Burger Planet is still the same great place it has been in the past, but now there are healthier choices to help meet customer's everyday lifestyles. Offering the same great taste and friendly service customers have come to expect at Burger Planet is what we do best.
Objectives
Output:
• We are offering new healthy menu items:
Fruit packages, gourmet salads, white chicken breast, lettuce wrap options and smaller portion sized Mercury Burger.
• Still America’s favorite quick service restaurant:
Traditional menu items and customer service will be maintained.
• Hiring fitness guru Jayne Peterson:
Helping promote Burger Planets focus towards healthy lifestyles and encouraging customer health and fitness awareness.
Impact:
• Customers can enjoy food they love and be healthy.
• Customer satisfaction knowing that the Burger Planet they love hasn’t changed but options are available to benefit their lifestyle.
• Encouragement of customer health and fitness awareness through education and information provided by Jane Peterson.
By teaming up with Jayne Peterson, Burger Planet is striving to achieve customer satisfaction by providing healthy menu items along with the traditional items to inspire happier, healthier customers.

Promoting Awareness, Changing Attitudes
CMP Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee Making a Difference
LOGAN, Utah – Cache Metropolitan Planning Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (CMP BPAC), is a new organization dedicated to promoting safety awareness and developing guidelines to help create a more bicycle and pedestrian friendly Cache Valley community.
The committee is establishing their foundation currently and their goal is to work with local governing bodies to develop policies that will create a friendlier environment for all modes of transportation.
“Think big, start small, go slow,” Chancellor said. “It takes a lot of time to process and digest ideas.”
The committee agrees on proposed bike routes and recommendations regarding route continuity, as well as the need for street sweeping for cyclists and snow removal to facilitate travel for citizens with limited abilities. The ultimate goal is to help new bicyclists and pedestrians feel confident through education – education for drivers of motor vehicles as well as for pedestrians and cyclists. The organization intends on advocating for a more respectful, cleaner and less congested Cache Valley community.
“Attitude is everything,” Chancellor said. “We want all users of the roadway to have respectful attitudes toward each other.”
The committee is comprised of a diverse group of citizens including professors, a police chief, a forest ranger, a UDOT engineer and students. Each of their skills and expertise are needed and their input benefits the organization.
The CMP Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee is a break-off committee from the Cache Metropolitan Planning Organization. It was founded in 2006 in Logan, Utah by president Jaynan Chancellor to help make a difference in Cache Valley with regards to transportation.
Anyone who has the enthusiasm and motivation for the cause can join the committee. To join or get more information just come to the meetings held every first Thursday of the month on the third floor of the Cache County building at 5:30 p.m.

Organization Helps People Become Secure in Their Finances
CVAIA Encourages New Members to Join
LOGAN, Utah -- Cache Valley Area Investors Association, a new organization committed to helping people become financially independent, is looking for people who are interested in learning how to better their financial situation.
“The question is how long can you live at your current income level without having to go to work,” said Preston Parker, president of CVAIA. Parker said he started this organization because he was tired of people hating their jobs and not knowing how to change their lives.
There are two types of income: earned income, which is a salary or wage for a job done, and passive income, which is primarily the accumulation of investments Parker said. “When passive income exceeds earned income you get the freedom to choose whatever job you want to do,” Parker said.
-MORE-
The goal is to teach members financial skills and make them aware of opportunities to increase their passive income by investing Parker said. He said they have already improved their financial situation in ways such as doing taxes differently or starting a business. He said members are continuing to foresee future possibilities for increasing their income through the return of their investments.
Cache Valley Area Investors Association was founded in August 2007 by its current president Preston Parker in Logan, Utah. The organization has 35 members and anyone can join by just coming to the meetings. They meet in the Cache Chamber of Commerce every other Thursday at 7 p.m.
